JONESBORO, Ark. -- It's still more than five months from opening, but already The Mall at Turtle Creek is attracting a long list of national retailers.
The $100 million regional mall is currently under construction at the intersection of Highland Drive and Stadium Boulevard. The first phase of the development, including JCPenney and Target, opened last week. The mall's
grand opening is set for March 2006.
Philip Purdom, director of leasing for David Hocker & Associates, says the mall's 750,000 square feet of retail space is 85% leased. Response to the project from national retail chains has been overwhelming.
"It was way above and beyond what we expected," he says. Jonesboro, with its regional draw from northeast Arkansas and southeast Missouri, has proven to be an attractive market for retailers.
