Target opens doors at Mall at Turtle Creek

JONESBORO -- With long lines in the checkout aisle and cars filling the parking lot, the second of two major store chains held its grand opening Sunday as Target opened its doors to customers at the Mall at Turtle Creek.
The store, located at 3000 East Highland Drive, features several key sections that will bring 1-stop shopping to most customers, according to the store's team leader, Richard McCleod.
McLeod said the 128,000-square-foot store has a pharmacy, 1-hour photo, cosmetics, sportswear, kitchenware, furniture and a full-scale Starbucks coffee house.
"In addition to a full service Starbucks, we have a pharmacy that adds to the unique experience. Customers should find an easier time in the pharmacy as they can get their prescriptions filled within 15 to 20 minutes," McLeod said.
The store -- which represents the chain's first location in Jonesboro and is one of only three located (two locations in Memphis) within a 200-mile radius of Jonesboro -- provides customers other advantages, according to McLeod.
"This store is different because of two things," McLeod said. "First, customers can use one of our 'Answer Phones' that are located in the store. It will assist them and a team member will be with them within 60 seconds.
"Second, if our checkout clerks become busy, we have the capability to hit a button, letting our employees who that help is needed on the team lines."
J.C. Penney has also opened its doors at the mall.
McLeod said that the store, with its 205 employees, will work to offer something that some stores within the mall may not be able to offer.
"We believe that we can co-exist with the mall. We will be different, because we will carry items such as milk and frozen foods. Individuals can shop at the mall and while there, can pick up food and snacks for their family," the team leader said.
According to the company, the Jonesboro location is one of 63 new stores that the company will open this month and is one of more than 1,300 stores located in 47 states.
