More Than 50 Tenants Announced for The Mall at Turtle Creek

JONESBORO, Ark. — Bruce Burrow of MBC Holdings, Inc., and David Hocker of David Hocker & Associates, Inc., announced today more than 50 new tenants for The Mall at Turtle Creek, a $100-million regional mall set to open by April 2006. Once completed, the project will be the only regional mall to open in the United States during the 2006 calendar year.
Anchored by Dillard’s, J.C. Penney and Target, The Mall at Turtle Creek development will be the largest regional mall in Northeast Arkansas and Southeast Missouri. Sub-anchors will include Barnes & Noble, Bed Bath & Beyond and Circuit City.
The newly announced tenants include: Aeropostale, American Eagle, Ann Taylor Loft, Auntie Ann’s, Bath & Body Works, Bath Junkie, Buckle, Chao Prya, Charlotte Russe, Chico’s, Chili’s, Christopher & Bank, Chuck E. Cheese’s, Cinnabon, Claire’s, Coldwater Creek, Dress Barn, Finish Line, Francesca’s, GNC, Gap/Gap Kids/Gap Baby, Gloria Jean’s, Gordon, Great American Cookies, Hallmark, Hibbet Sports, Hollister, Hot Topic, Jos. A. Bank, Journeys, Kay Jewelers, Lids, Limited Too, MasterCuts, Maurice’s, Merle Norman, Mrs. Field’s Cookies, Nail & Spa Salon, New York & Company, Pacific Sun, Regis Salons, Sbarro, Shoe Dept, Shorty Small’s, Spencers, Sportsman’s Trail, Steak Escape/Baskin-Robbin’s, Subway, Sunglass Hut, Trade Secrets, Vanity, Victoria’s Secret, and Zales.
“We promised to bring new and exciting tenants to the area,” said codeveloper Bruce Burrow, “and today’s announcement validates our original promise. We look forward to finalizing our remaining leases and announcing them to the public soon.” Burrow is a partner in MBC Holdings, Inc., with codeveloper Marty Belz, of Memphis, TN.
David Hocker, whose company is co-developer, leasing agent and manager for the project added, “we are very pleased with the level of leasing success that we are having and look forward to opening such a new and exciting project in Northeast Arkansas.”
Once completed, the retail complex will create over 1,500 jobs, while adding 900 net new jobs to the area. In addition, the projected annual retail sales for the development are $225 million.
Located at the intersection of Highland Drive and Stadium Boulevard in Jonesboro, the development will encompass 750,000 square feet of retail space and more than 100 retailers in a fully enclosed mall with a unique “Main Street” presentation, one of the first of its kind in the country. Phase one opening will include Target and J.C. Penney. J.C. Penney will open Oct. 7, while Target will open Oct. 9, 2005. The grand opening is set for March 29, 2006.
MBC Holdings, Inc., has already invested heavily in Northeast Arkansas and Southeast Missouri with the development of a number of shopping centers. The group has also invested in the Central Arkansas market, with projects including The Peabody Little Rock, the Hilton Little Rock Metrocenter and The Shoppes at North Hills, with Arkansas’ first Bass Pro Shops. The Jonesborobased firm is one of the region’s largest commercial property developers specializing in shopping centers and hotel properties.
David Hocker & Associates, Inc., of Owensboro, Kentucky, is a fully integrated retail real estate development and management company that opened its first shopping center in 1964 and has since developed forty shopping center totaling more than fourteen million square feet in New Jersey, Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, Illinois, Tennessee, Mississippi, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina. The Mall at Turtle Creek will be the company’s thirteenth regional mall and its first development in Arkansas.
